OMAHA, Neb. – The Mavericks split Saturday's doubleheader with the visiting Bison from North Dakota State. Omaha shutout NDSU 4-0 in the first game before falling 7-2 in the second game.
With the split, the Mavericks sit at 13-11 overall and 2-3 in league play.
Game 1: Omaha 4, NDSU 0
How It Happened
- Izzy Eltze recorded Omaha's first hit of the game in the third inning with a triple to left field, but the Mavericks didn't plate a runner until the next inning.
- Jamie White, Sydney Ross, and Rachel Weber filled the bases with three straight walks to open the fourth. White scored the first run on a past ball by the Bison.
- Sophie Cerveny then singled down the left field line to plate Ross. A throwing error on the play allowed Weber to make it a 3-0 game heading into the fifth inning.
- NDSU gained a base runner in the fifth and three in the sixth but left them all stranded.
- Ross would scored again in the bottom of the sixth on a past ball. Mavericks went on to win, 4-0.
Inside the Box Score
- Omaha finished with three hits. Eltze's triple was the lone multi-base hit for the Mavericks.
- Cerveny stole Omaha's only base.
- Kamryn Meyer improved to 8-5 in the circle. It was her seventh shutout of the season.
- Meyer also tallied 13 strikeouts. It was the sixth time this season she has retired double digits.

How It Happened
- The Bison tallied the first hit of the game with a lead-off double in the first, but the Mavericks scored the first runs of game two.
- Ross got on base early in the second with a walk. She scored her third run of the day on a double from Weber. Weber doubled the lead on Cerveny's single late on in the inning. Omaha led 2-0.
- NDSU then scored seven unanswered runs on its way to a win.
- Cardenas plated Buringa for the first NDSU run in the third.
- The Bison then took control of the game in the sixth with five runs on four hits. Licea sparked the rally with a double down the left field line to tie the game. Jensen followed it up with an RBI single for the lead.
- Buringa and Gates hit back-to-back homers for a 6-2 lead to cap the inning.
- Rudd closed wrapped up the scoring with a solo homer in the seventh. NDSU wins, 7-2.
Inside the Box Score
- The Mavericks posted four hits in game two. They were led by Cerveny at the plate who recorded two.
- Weber notched a double.
- Sydney Nusimer made the start and pitched 2.2 innings. She tallied two strikeouts.
- Sydney Hampton came in for relief and pitched the next 2.2 innings. She falls to 1-3 on the year.
- Anna Chapman closed the game. Chapman and Hampton each retired one batter.
