OMAHA, Neb -
Jamie White's fourth homer of the season gave the Mavericks a 1-0 lead in the fourth, but the Shockers responded with two of their own to take a 3-1 win over Omaha in its home opener.
Omaha falls to 11-8.
How It Happened
- The Shockers tallied a leadoff hit in the first three innings, but the first run of Wednesday's game didn't come until the fourth inning.
- White nailed the first Omaha hit with a solo blast over the left field fence for a 1-0 Maverick lead.
- Wichita State responded with its own home run. Barnard sent one over the center field fence for a 2-1 WSU lead.
- Lucas added another for the Shockers with one more homer. They took a 3-1 edge in the sixth.
- The Mavericks loaded the bases in the bottom of the seventh with a pair of walks and a hit-by-pitch, but the runners were stranded giving WSU the win.
