CONWAY, Ark. - Omaha softball played a pair of games Sunday to open action at the Michelle Short Memorial Classic hosted by Central Arkansas. Saint Louis rallied for a 6-3 win in game one, while the Mavericks run-ruled Arkansas - Pine Bluff 8-0 to cap the day.
Omaha improves to 6-5 overall.
Game One: Saint Louis 6, Omaha 3
How It Happened:
- The Mavericks came out swinging in the weekend opener plating three runs in the first. Izzy Eltze sparked the offense with a solo homer to lead off the game. Lynsey Tucker followed it up with a single through the left side and would score later in the inning on a sac fly from Rachel Weber.
- Omaha's third run was scored by Jamie White. She made it on base with a single to right field. Lexi Burkhardt sent her home with a double, and the Mavericks took a 3-0 lead.
- Kamryn Meyer retired the first six Saint Louis batter helping the Mavericks retain their lead until the fourth inning when Omaha made a pitching change.
- Herron doubled with two outs, while the next two batters walked to fill the bases. Herron scored on another walk to put the Billikens on board.
- Sullivan and Johnson made it a tied game when both crossed home later in the inning on a throwing error.
- SLU tacked on another pair of runs in the fifth on a double from Johnson.
- They made it six unanswered in the bottom of the sixth when a double from Wise plated Abbott. Billikens win, 6-3.

How It Happened:
- The first inning saw five Omaha hits helping the Mavericks jump out to another quick 3-0 lead. Eltze and Tucker led off with back-to-back singles before the Lions turned a double play on the next at-bat. Omaha didn't let that stop its offense with two straight RBI doubles from White and Weber. Sydney Ross ended the scoring streak with a RBI single through the right side to plate Weber and take a 3-0 lead.
- Maggie O'Brien singled in the second and Tucker tallied her second hit of the game with a triple to score O'Brien. With the run, the Mavericks took a 4-0 lead at the end of two.
- White and Ross each tallied a double in the third. Ross's hit to left center sent White across home for a 5-0 edge.
- Eltze sent her second solo homer of the day over the center field fence in the fourth for a 6-0 lead. Weber plated another two with a single down the left field line.
- The Lions couldn't turn a run in the fifth leading to an 8-0 run-rule win for the Mavericks.

- Omaha recorded 13 hits as a team for its fourth straight game with at least 10.
