Softball Extends Win Streak to Four Straight

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Omaha's win streak extends to four games as the Mavericks picked up a 7-2 win in the weekend finale vs. Incarnate Word. 
 
Omaha improves to 5-4 overall.
 
How It Happened
  • The Cardinals put the first two runs on the board Sunday afternoon with one in each the first and second innings. UIW tallied five singles in the bottom of the first to plate its first run. Mata would score on McGary's base hit to left field.
  • The Cardinals scored another run in the second converting two hits and an error into a 2-0 lead.
  • Jamie White answered for Omaha in the third inning with a two-run blast to tie the game. It was one of four hits for the Mavericks in the third.
  • The game was deadlocked until the sixth inning when the Omaha offense exploded for four runs with two outs.
  • Taylor Johnson and White walked to get on and the bases were loaded when Rachel Weber reached on an error. Sydney Ross hit one in with a slow grounder to shortstop.
  • White, Ross, and Weber scored on a walk an UIW error for a 6-2 lead in the top of six.
  • Eltze led off the seventh with a single to right field. She'd get to third following a steal and Lynsey Tucker single. Eltze crossed home for the final run of the game on a grounded out from Alexa Sedlak. Mavericks win, 7-2.
 
Inside the Box Score
  • Sydney Hampton came in for relief for the Mavericks after Syndey Nuismer made the start. Hampton recorded the win and tallied three strikeouts.
  • Four players recorded two hits in the game.
  • White finished 2-of-3 with two RBI and two runs scored.
  • Izzy Eltze tallied a stolen base.
