Mavericks Top Denver in Final Road Game

Denver, Co. – The Omaha Mavericks snapped their ten-game losing streak with their 62-50 win over the Denver Pioneers Saturday in their final road game of the season. Natalie Bartle and Mariah Murdie both scored in double digits leading the way for the Mavericks.

Leaders For Omaha
Bartle scored a team-best 16 points on fifty percent shooting while draining five of her six free throws. Murdie chipped in 11 to go along with six rebounds and two blocks. Elena Pilakouta hauled in a team-best eight rebounds.

Leaders for Denver
Cheyenne Forney led the way for the Pioneers with 14 points to go along with her team-high 7 rebounds. Uju Ezeudu joined her in double figures with 12 points.

Team Stats
Omaha shot 37.5 (21-56) percent from the field and 83.3 (15-18) from the charity stripe while draining five shots from deep. Denver shot at a 35.8 (19-53) percent pace while draining six shots from beyond the arc.

Inside the First Quarter
After falling back 5-2 early the Mavericks responded with an 8-2 run including a three from Kennedi Grant to take the 10-7 lead. Denver would respond with back-to-back buckets to take the 12-10 lead into the second quarter.

Inside the Second Quarter
The two teams traded baskets to start the second quarter before Omaha pulled ahead with a 13-4 run to end the half. The Mavericks scored the final six points of the half, with Natalie Bartle scoring back-to-back baskets to take the 27-20 lead into the break.

Inside the Third Quarter
A Sophie Johnston three and Kennedi Grant free throws pushed the Mavericks lead to 10 midway through the third before a Pioneer run. Denver would then score seven straight to cut the Omaha lead to three before the Mavericks answered. Bartle drained a three just before the buzzer to make the Mavericks lead 43-35 heading into the fourth.

Inside the Fourth Quarter
After a back-and-forth start to the fourth quarter the Pioneers cut the Omaha lead to 51-46 with 3:33 left. However the Mavericks pushed back and finished off the game on an 11-4 run to take the 62-50 win.
 
Next Up
The Mavericks will return home for their final two games of the season, first taking on Western Illinois Thursday at 7 p.m.
