CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – Drake used a four run rally in the fourth inning to take a 10-2 win over Omaha in six innings Sunday afternoon. The Mavericks wrapped up play at the UNI Dome Tournament.
Omaha falls to 1-4 overall.
How It Happened
- Omaha capitalized on an early Drake error to plate its first run in the top of the first inning. Sophie Cerveny reached second on an error to set herself up to score. Lynsey Tucker then sent a ball up the middle allowing Cerveny to put the Mavericks up 1-0.
- Drake tied it 1-1 in the bottom of the first. Valtman doubled in the second slot and scored two at-bats later on a single to center from Rice.
- Valtman stepped up again in the third for the Bulldogs. She doubled to left center to plate two more runs for a 3-1 lead.
- Tucker and Sydney Ross hit back-to-back doubles in the third. Ross tallied an RBI bringing Omaha within one of Drake.
- Drake's bats came alive in the fourth with four runs on three hits. Lehman sparked the rally with a lead off double. She scored two batters later on a single from Ryan. Valtman singled in Wheeler, and Ryan and Johnson would also score for the Bulldogs opening the lead, 7-2.
- The Bulldogs added another pair in the fifth. Ryan and Valtman tallied RBIs for a 9-2 lead. They'd take the win in the sixth with the tenth run crossing home to end it early.

- Tucker led the Mavericks with two hits and an RBI.
- Ross and Taylor Johnson tallied the other two hits for Omaha.
- Sydney Hampton started in the circle Sunday. She pitched 1.2 innings to start the day and tallied one strikeout. She reentered in the bottom of the sixth.
- Anna Chapman came in for relief in the second.

Omaha will play at the Incarnate Word Tournament next weekend in San Antonio, Texas. It will be a four-game slate. The Mavericks play two on Friday, one on Saturday, and one on Sunday.
