OMAHA, Neb. - Despite capturing the lead three times with the help of three different Mavericks, the Purple Eagles came out on top with a 4-3 win Saturday night. Omaha led in shots, 33-27, for the second night in a row and was 2-for-2 on the power play.
The Mavericks fall to 0-2 on the year and head to Lake Superior State Oct. 14-15 for their first road trip.
Jack Randl netted his third goal in two nights for the Mavericks in the first period for an early Maverick lead. It was the lone goal of the first 20 minutes.
The Purple Eagles tied the game a little over seven minutes into the second period on a goal from Jason Pineo.
Nolan Sullivan quickly matched that at the 8:48 mark to recapture the lead for Omaha. It marked his first goal of the season.
Niagara struck once more before the period ended to force a 2-2 deadlock at the intermission. Ryan Cox scored for the second straight night for the Purple Eagles.

Brock Bremer flicked in for a 3-2 Maverick edge on the power play. It would be the final Omaha lead of the night.
Jay Ahearn (5:45) and Ryan Naumovski (16:48) scored two unanswered for Niagara to swing the lead in its favor, 4-3. Omaha wouldn't get another shot off falling for the second straight night to the Purple Eagles.
Simon Latkoczy got the starting nod in goal for Omaha. He made 23 total saves, including 11 in the third.
