Powells Point, N.C.- The Omaha men's golf team is in 14th place through two rounds of the ODU/OBX Intercollegiate after the second round on Monday.
With one round left to play, the Mavericks have a team score of 601. After posting a total of 306 on Sunday, Omaha improved by 11 strokes with a score of 295 on Monday. That wasn't enough to keep the Mavericks from dropping from 13th to 14th place. They sit two strokes behind Hartford, who holds 13th place with a team score of 599. North Dakota State leads the Old Dominion/Outer Banks Intercollegiate with a total of 560 through two rounds.
Mathew Halvorson continues to lead the Mavericks through two rounds. The graduate student posted a 74 (+3) in the second round and currently shares 40th place with a two-day total of 149. Halvorson birdied five holes in round two to bring his total to eight birdies in this event, good for fifth place in that category. Carter Doose had the best round of any Maverick on Monday. The junior posted a 73 (+2) and has a total score of 150. Doose shares 45th place on the leaderboard.
Nolan Johnson and Kurtis Rodriguez are in 49th place with a two-round total of 151. Johnson and Rodriguez both recorded scores of 74 (+3) in round two. Tyler Eedy has totaled 168 through two days, posting an 87 in the second round.
The third and final round of the ODU/OBX Intercollegiate begins with tee times starting at 7:00 a.m. CDT on Tuesday. Tyler Eedy is up first for the Mavericks, teeing off at 7:45 a.m. He is followed by Nolan Johnson, who takes to the tee box at 7:54 a.m. After Johnson, Kurtis Rodriguez begins at 8:03 a.m., Carter Doose goes at 8:12 a.m. and finally Mathew Halvorson will start the final round at 8:21 a.m. Follow the action with live scoring, available at OMavs.com.
