Mavericks Nab Senior Night Win

OMAHA, Neb. - Omaha women's soccer played host to St. Thomas Friday for senior night. The Mavericks netted a pair of goals by the seventh minute of action powering a 2-1 win vs. the Tommies.

With the win, Omaha improves to 3-8-4 overall, 2-2-2 in the Summit League.

How It Happened
  • Omaha capitalized on an early corner kick coming in the fourth minute of play. Grace Crockett sent the ball into the box for a Regan Zimmers header into the back of the net.
  • At the 6:05 mark, Marissa Gohr made it 2-0. Grace Thede fed her the ball from the top of the box for a wide-open shot and goal.
  • Mariah Nguyen cut the Omaha lead to one in the 15th minute.
  • Emma Konsmo made saves in the 22nd and 26th minutes to hold on to the lead for the Mavericks. Lissa Mizutani had one more shot on goal before the half ended, but Konsmo made the stop again. Omaha led 2-1 at the break.
  • The second half saw an increase in defensive effort as the teams struggled to place the ball between the posts. 
  • Ava Blum recorded Omaha's first shot on goal in the 68th minute, but it was saved by Annie Bantner.
  • Mia Reedtz Rehde Olesen then made back-to-back saves in the 74th minute. It was the final two SOG of the match, and Omaha won 2-1.

  • Zimmers and Gohr each recorded their first goals of the season. Gohr's goal is her second career game winning goal.
  • Crockett now leads the team with two assists this season.
  • Thede's assist was the first of her season.
  • Zimmers and Gohr led Omaha with three shots each vs. the Tommies.
