Omaha, NE. – The Omaha Mavericks got their second conference victory of the season Saturday afternoon, with a 68-54 win over North Dakota State in Fargo, North Dakota.
Grace Cave scored a career-high 25 points to lead the Mavericks to the win.
Leaders For Omaha
Cave played a career-high 40 minutes in the win and went 10-15 from the floor on the way to her career high 25 points and seven rebounds. Two other Mavericks joined her in double digits, including
Sam Mitchell, who drained three buckets from deep on her way to 16 points and
Josie Filer, who chipped in 10 points and five boards.
Leaders for North Dakota State
Heaven Hamling led the Bison with 19 points, 15 of them coming from beyond the arc. Ryan Cobbins was also solid from deep, chipping in 12 points, all coming from the three-point line. Emily Dietz hauled in a team-best seven rebounds.

Omaha shot 51.0 (26-51) percent from the field while North Dakota State shot at a 34.7 (17-49) percent pace. The Mavericks outrebounded the Bison 30-26 and outscored North Dakota State in the paint 26-10.
Inside the First Quarter
The Bison pulled ahead 6-2 after two early three pointers, the Mavericks would then go on a 18-0 run fueled by seven points from Cave and six from
Mariah Murdie to take a 20-6 lead with 2:26 left in the quarter. A Mitchell three would make the Omaha lead 23-9 heading into the second quarter.
Inside the Second Quarter
Cave stole two Bison passes in the second quarter that led to breakaway layups that would push the lead to 31-10 with 6:37 left in the half.
Morgann Gardner drained two jumpers and the Mavericks took a 39-23 lead into the break.
Inside the Third Quarter
Katie Keitges scored the first five points of the second half for the Mavericks, later four straight points from
Josie Filer made the score 48-29 with 6:32 left in the period. The Bison pulled back before the end of the quarter behind buckets from Abby Schulte and Hamling to cut the deficit to 52-43 heading into the final period.
Inside the Fourth Quarter
After a Cobbins three to cut the Omaha lead to nine, buckets from Filer and Cave pushed the Mavericks back ahead by 15 points. Omaha made free throws in the final minute to take the 68-54 victory.

The Mavericks will head back home to take on Kansas City Monday night at Baxter Arena with tip-off set for 7 p.m.
