Jan 22, 2022

BROOKINGS, S.D. – Senior Sheridan Rodriguez tied a lifetime best for the Omaha track and field team at the Jim Emmerich Invitational Saturday.

Rodriguez, competing in the high jump, tied her personal best with a jump of 5'7'' which put her third.

Also competing in the high jump, Kaitlin Hellbusch finished 7th with a clearance of 5'3''.

In the 200-meter dash, Carrie Simonson ran a time of 26.17 good enough for fifth place.

Paige Blackford ran the best time of her collegiate career in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:17.50 to finish sixth. Earlier in the day, Blackford ran a lifetime best mile with a time of 5:15.65.

Zoe Christenson ran a lifetime best in the 3000-meter run with a time of 11:49.60.

In the women's weight throw, Kinsey Scheffler threw her second farthest throw of her career with a throw of 38-08 ¾.

"We pushed them hard in practice this week so there were definitely some tired legs, but the work we put in now will pay off later in the season. I was happy to see Sheridan tie her PR again as well as have some good attempts at the next bar. It was also good to see Paige perform the way see did in both races. Her, Coach Cisar and Coach Koski have been putting in a lot of hard work and it's good to see if paying off."

The Mavericks return to action next Saturday (Jan 29.) at the Jack Johnson Invitational in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
