Behrens' Goal Leads To Draw With Missouri State

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - Missouri State took a 1-0 lead in the first half, but a late goal from Cece Behrens forced overtime. Despite four shots from each team through two overtimes, the match ended in a 1-1 draw.

With the draw, Omaha is 3-2-2 on the year.

How It Happened
  • Sunday's match got off to a slow start with both teams struggling to connect offensively. The first shot of the match came nearly 16 minutes into the game with an off-target attempt from MSU's Kennady Orlick.
  • Two minutes later, Andrea Daves recorded Omaha's lone shot of the half that went high above the crossbar.
  • The Bears took two more off-target shots before firing their first on goal. Sierra Fury connected with a shot over Mia Reedtz Rehde Olesen in goal at the 41:32 mark making it 1-0. Fury managed another shot on goal before the end of the half, but Olesen made the stop keeping it at a one goal match.
  • Marissa Gohr took Omaha's first two shots of the second half forcing saves by Katherine Montgomery at the 60:38 and 79:18 minute marks. Sena Ahovissi struck next with seven minutes but she was stopped again by Montgomery.
  • With three minutes left in regulation, Cece Behrens tied the match 1-1 on an assist from Daves, which forced the third straight overtime match for the Mavericks.
  • Daves and Laurin Mertz nearly won the match for the Mavericks with shots on target in the first overtime period. Reedtz made two stops in the final two minutes to force another ten minutes on the pitch.
  • Grace O'Keefe struck twice in the final four minutes of the match, but Reedtz locked down and the match finished in a 1-1 draw.
Inside the Box
  • Behrens notched her first career goal for the Mavericks. It was her only shot in the match.
  • Daves finished with an assist and a team-high three shots.
  • Ahovissi, Mertz and Gohr each finished with two shots. Both of Gohr's were on goal.
  • The Bears outshot the Mavericks 15-12 and 9-6 on goal.
  • Reedtz made a career-high eight saves between the pipes. She improves to 3-1-2 in goal this season.
