How It Happened
  • K-State put the pressure on early forcing an Omaha save just four minutes into action. It didn't take long for the Wildcats to connect again with a shot by Marissa Weichel in the 7th minute. She sent the ball low left past Mia Reetz Rehde Olesen giving the Wildcats a 1-0 edge.
  • In the 22nd minute, Avarie Howard looked to knot the match with Omaha's first shot on target but K-State made the stop in goal.
  • Weichel and Riley Baker fired off shots within 40 seconds of each other forcing back-to-back saves by Reetz, while Brookelynn Entz forced a save in the 42nd minute.
  • Reetz was handed a red card in the 44th minute for an intentional hand ball putting the Mavericks down a man for the second half. Wildcats led 1-0 at the break.
  • Despite an advantage for K-State, the Wildcats didn't tally their first shot on goal of the half until the 90th minute. Rachel Thigpen tallied her first save as a Maverick.
