Omaha Blanks WIU in 13-0 Run-Rule Victory

MACOMB, Ill. – The Omaha baseball team collected a dominant 13-0 run-rule victory over Western Illinois in seven innings on Friday afternoon in Macomb, Ill.
 
The win moves the Mavericks to 21-23 (12-11 Summit League) on the season while the Leathernecks drop to 11-28 (7-19).
 
How it Happened
  • Breyden Eckhout began the game with an infield single and Masen Prososki drew a walk before both scored on back-to-back RBI groundouts to give Omaha a 2-0 lead in the first.
  • Grant Goldston singled up the middle and Prososki reached on a walk before Mike Boeve unleashed his Summit League-leading 16th double of the season to score the pair of Mavericks and double the Omaha lead to 4-0 in the third.
  • Boeve scored on Keil Krumwiede's RBI single before Eduardo Rosario roped an RBI double down the left field line to plate Krumwiede and make it 6-0.
  • Parker Smejkal lined an RBI single through the right side to bring home Rosario and give Omaha a 7-0 lead after three.
  • The Mavericks scored two more in the sixth after Goldston and Prososki touched home on wild pitches.
  • With runners on second and third, Matt Bondarchuk hit an RBI single to left, scoring Bonar before Krumwiede's sacrifice fly made it an 11-0 game.
  • Rosario capped the scoring for Omaha with a two-RBI single to left, clinching the 13-0 run-rule victory for the Mavericks.
