OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha baseball team overcame a nine-run deficit before falling 17-12 vs. Oral Roberts on Saturday night at Tal Anderson Field.
The Mavericks are now 19-22 (11-11 Summit League) on the season while ORU moves to 26-19 (17-5).
How it Happened
- Oral Roberts scored a pair in the first and added another in the third to take an early 3-0 lead.
- Eduardo Rosario blasted his second homer of the season with a solo shot to left to plate Omaha's first run of the game in the bottom of the second.
- The Golden Eagles added five runs on six hits in the third to stretch the lead to 8-1.
- Chris Esposito blasted his eight homer of the year to left in the fourth before ORU answered with a run in the top of the fifth.
- Back-to-back RBI singles in the seventh expanded the Golden Eagle lead to 11-2.
- The Mavericks began the comeback with six runs on six hits and an ORU error to get within two after seven innings.
- Brett Bonar singled down the right field line to score Esposito before Adam Gadsden's RBI single scored Rosario to plate Omaha's third and fourth run of the game.
- Bonar came around to score on Harrison Denk's RBI groundout and Gadsden touched home on Masen Prososki's RBI double to make it an 11-6 game.
- RBI singles from Mike Boeve and Parker Smejkal brought the Mavericks within 11-8 after seven innings.
- Prososki ripped a two-RBI single to left center, scoring Bondarchuk and Gadsden to make it a one-run game in the eighth.
- A dropped ball on a failed tag at first allowed Keil Krumwiede to reach and scamper to second while Denk and Prososki scored on the play to give Omaha the 12-11 lead after eight.
- Oral Roberts responded with three home runs and an RBI single in the top of the ninth to post the 17-12 victory.
