Mavericks Sweep Roos in Saturday Doubleheader

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Omaha swept Kansas City Saturday afternoon in a conference doubleheader to extend its win streak to four games. The Mavericks and Roos went to extra innings in game one winning 1-0 in the 12th, while the game two slugfest ended in Omaha's favor, 11-8. Lexi Burkhardt stepped up big for Omaha in both games helping plate the winning runs.

The Mavericks improve to 14-24 on the year.

Game 1: Omaha 1, Kansas City 0 (12 innings)
How It Happened
  • Game one proved to be a defensive battle with each team remaining scoreless through the first seven innings to force extras.
  • Jamie White recorded the first hit of the game with a double in the second, which eventually helped load the bases, but Omaha couldn't convert a run.
  • Omaha tallied another hit, while Kansas City tallied two before the seventh inning. Neither team plated a run resulting in extra inning action.
  • The Mavericks left two on in the eighth and one on in the 11th and the Roos had a shot in the eighth and 10th innings. It wasn't until the top of the 12th that Omaha tallied the lone run of the game. Allison Helton reached by being hit by a pitch and went on to score the game winning run on a double from Lexi Burkhardt.

  • The Mavericks out-hit the Roos 5-4 led by Izzy Eltze who went 2-for-5 at the plate.
  • Eltze and Lynsey Tucker each stole a base for Omaha in game one.
