Mavericks Shutout North Dakota State, 8-0

FARGO, N.D. – Omaha softball dominated Sunday play with an 8-0 win over North Dakota State. The teams were set to play a doubleheader, but due to weather only got one game in. Izzy Eltze had a monster day at the plate finishing 3-for-4, including a homer, three runs and three RBI.
 
With the win, Omaha improves to 12-24 (6-9) on the year.
 
How It Happened
  • A slow start to the game didn't last long as the Mavericks posted four runs in the top of the third to take a lead. Izzy Eltze recorded her first hit and RBI to spark the run with a single through the left side to score Emily Klosterman.
  • Sydney Ross followed that up with another single through the left side to score Lynsey Tucker. Omaha's final two runs of the inning came off a single up the middle by Taylor Johnson that plated Eltze and Ross.
  • Eltze scored her second run of the game in the top of the fifth. Jamie White grounded out to shortstop who made the play at first allowing Eltze to cross home. Mavericks led 5-0.
  • She kept her momentum going into the sixth inning and extended Omaha's lead to 7-0. Eltze homered down the right field line to score herself and Alexa Sedlak.
  • Janae Cameron capped the slugfest with another homer. This time a solo shot to left field in the top of the seventh. Omaha wins, 8-0.

  • Omaha tallied 11 hits on the day with two players recording at least two.
  • Eltze led the way with three hits, while Ross tallied two.
  • Eltze added three RBI and three runs, while Johnson added two RBI.
  • Eltze recorded Omaha's only stolen base in the action.
  • Kamryn Meyer pitched a complete game. She improves to 5-8 on the year. Meyer retired nine batters and gave up only two hits over the seven innings.
On Deck
Omaha travels to Kansas City for its final road trip of the regular season. The Mavericks and Roos are slated to play a pair of doubleheaders on May 1 and 2 beginning at noon.
