FARGO, N.D. - The Mavericks resumed league action at North Dakota State Saturday afternoon. The teams split day one action. The Bison took a 3-1 win in game one, while the Mavericks picked up a 5-3 win in game two.
Omaha improves to 11-24 (5-9) on the year.
Game 1: NDSU 3, Omaha 1
How It Happened
- Omaha put the first run on the board in the second inning of action. Jamie White singled up the middle to score Sydney Ross allowing the Mavericks to take a 1-0 lead.
- In the bottom of the second, the Bison took the lead with a pair of runs. Licea used a sac bunt to score Koehn to tie the game. Gates then used a sac-fly to score Wysong.
- NDSU added a third run to the board with a single to centerfield plating Padgett in the fourth. The Bison went on to win 3-1.
Inside the Box Score
- Omaha tallied just two hits in game one's action. White and Lynsey Tucker each recorded one.
- Izzy Eltze returned to the starting line-up and tallied a stolen base for the Mavericks.
- In the circle, Sydney Nuismer falls to 3-7 on the year. She tallied four strikeouts.
Game 2: Omaha 5, NDSU 3
How It Happened
- The Bison used a solo homer in the second to take a 1-0 lead. Koehn sent the ball over the left field fence for the edge over Omaha.
- Diana Murtha responded for the Mavericks in the third with a double to the left center gap. Ross and Tucker scored on the play and the Mavericks took their first lead of the game, 2-1.
- The Mavericks piled on the runs in the top of the sixth plating three more. Taylor Johnson sent a single up the middle to score Ross, while Emily Klosterman singled down the right field line to score Allison Helton and Olivia Aden. Omaha led 5-1.
- NDSU recorded a run in the bottom of the sixth to cut into the lead. Licea hit a sac-fly to center bringing Beatty home for the run.
- The Bison attempted a seventh inning rally. DeCamp struck out for the first out of the game, but Buringa scored on the steal. It would be the only run for the Bison in the seventh allowing Omaha the 5-3 win.
Inside the Box Score
- Omaha finished with nine hits in game two vs. the Bison.
- Ross led the way going 3-for-4 at the plate. She finished with two runs scored and a stolen base.
- T. Johnson added another two hits for Omaha. She recorded a double and an RBI.
- Murtha had a team-leading two RBI.
- Sydney Hampton collects the win improving to 4-9 on the year. She retired four batters.
