OMAHA, Neb. – The Mavericks snapped an eight game skid after splitting Saturday's doubleheader with Western Illinois. The Leathernecks took the first game 3-1, while Omaha won, 4-3, in game two of the game.
With the split, Omaha improves to 8-22 (3-7) on the year.
Game 1: Western Illinois 3, Omaha 1
How It Happened
- Western Illinois jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning. Hollings led off the game with a walk and scored on a double from Marcheschi two at-bats later. WIU tallied two hits in the first.
- Omaha responded with two hits of its own in the bottom of one, but both base runners were left stranded.
- In the third, Ill led off with a double to left field. She advanced to third on a sac fly and scored on a single from Rodriquez extending the WIU lead to 2-0.
- Omaha got within one in the bottom of the third. Lynsey Tucker and Lexi Burkhardt tallied back to back singles. Tucker would get to third on Burkhardt's. The second baseman scored on Jamie White's sac fly to right field to put a run on the board.
- A solo homer from Rodriguez in the seventh counted for WIU's final run of the game. Leathernecks with 3-1.

- The Leathernecks out-hit the Mavericks 9-7.
- Burkhardt led Omaha with two hits, while White tallied a hit and RBI.
- Emily Klosterman stole the only base of game one and now has six on the season.
- Sydney Hampton started and pitched 6.1 innings. She retired six batters and falls to 3-8 on the year.

Game 2: Omaha 4, Western Illinois 3
How It Happened
- Game two wouldn't see a run until the bottom of the third when Omaha took a 1-0 edge. Nuismer led off with a walk and made her way to third base following a sac bunt from Sedlak and a WIU wild pitch. Nusimer scored then on a single from Klosterman.
- In the top of the sixth, the Leathernecks tallied three hits and three runs. Hollings opened the inning with a double to center followed by a single from Ill. Muczynski pinch ran for Hollings and would score on a three-run homer from Rodriguez. WIU went up 3-1.
- The Mavericks rallied in the bottom of six and scored three runs to retake the lead. Alexa Sedlak and Klosterman recorded a double and triple back-to-back to plate the three runs.
- Omaha used two strikeouts and a ground out in the top of seven to hold on for the 4-3 win.
