Grace Thede netted the game winner in the 97
th minute to help the Mavericks edge the Coyotes in overtime Friday night. Omaha downed South Dakota, 1-0, for the win.

How It Happened
- A defensive first half on both ends of the pitch made for a slow start offensively. The Mavericks got off only one shot in the first 45 minutes, while the Coyotes managed two.
- In the 10th minute, Alexis Mitchell struck first for USD with an off target shot. Kaitlyn Cook took one that was blocked almost 20 minutes later for the Mavericks. Taylor Cotter would tally the final shot of the half with just under 15 minutes leaving the match knotted 0-0 at the break.
- Less than two minutes into the second half, USD fired a shot off the right side of the goal. A few minutes later, Andrea Daves recorded the first shot on goal of the match. Emma Harkleroad made the stop in the bottom left of the goal to keep things even.
- In the 62nd minute, the Coyotes forced an Omaha save with a shot from Joana Zanin at the bottom center of the net. Both teams would tally one more shot on goal before the end of regulation as the Mavericks saw their fourth overtime of the year.
- Omaha took the only shot of the overtime period, and it is all the Mavericks needed to down the Coyotes. Grace Thede used a fast break into the box and sent the ball over the left shoulder of a charging goalkeeper. The ball found the back of the net, and the Mavericks win, 1-0.

- Friday's game marked the fourth overtime match for the Mavericks this season. The last time Omaha had four overtimes in a season was in 2015. Omaha tied two and won two that season.
- Thede's game winner is her first ever career goal for Omaha. She scored it on her only shot of the match.
