Mavericks Fall at Denver, 2-1

DENVER, Colo. - The two top teams in the Summit League met Friday night for the first time this season. The Omaha Mavericks traveled to take on the Denver Pioneers. Denver used two goals in the first half to seal the win, despite a goal from Andrea Daves in the 55th minute. Pioneers win, 2-1.

With the loss, Omaha falls to 7-3-3 on the year.

How It Happened
  • The Pioneers jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first half over the Mavericks. Natalie Beckman connected first for Denver in the 30th minute. Alex Nillen fired off a shot that Mia Reedtz Rehde Olesen stopped but lost control of. Beckman was there to capitalize and found the back of the net putting Denver up 1-0.
  • Six minutes later Malak Rafik beat Olesen finding a hole in the low left of the net giving the Pioneers a 2-0 edge at the break.
  • Andrea Daves got Omaha on board in the 55th minute. Kailtyn Guhl sent a ball from wide left into the box to Sophia Green who used one touch for a shot. The shot was blocked, and Daves connected on the rebound for a low goal for the Mavericks.
  • Daves got another good look four minutes later for Omaha, but it was saved to hold on to a 2-1 win for the Pioneers.
