OMAHA, Neb. - On day two of the
Connie Claussen Classic, the Mavericks dropped their meeting with Northern Colorado, 4-1.
Allison Helton scored Omaha's lone run in the bottom of the seventh.
With the loss, Omaha falls to 5-13 on the year.
How It Happened
- The Bears found their groove after dropping two games to open the Classic and posted two runs in the first. Young led off the game with a double to right center. She scored two batters later with Villegas singled down the left field line. Villegas added another later in the inning following a single from Fischer.
- Fischer scored her second run of the game in the top of the third and Simonsgaard would tally the final run for UNC in the sixth to give the Bears a 4-0 edge.
- Allison Helton led off the seventh with a double down the left field line. She advanced to third on a ground out by Burkhardt and scored on Jamie White's ground out to third.
- Sydney Nuismer attempted to keep the rally going with a single to right field, but the Bears locked down to capture a 4-1 win over the Mavericks.
Inside the Box Score
- Omaha finished with five hits in the game and were led by Nuismer who was 2-for-3.
- Helton, White, and Taylor Johnson each recorded one.
- Nuismer also pitched a complete game in the circle and falls to 1-4 on the year. She recorded two strikeouts in the loss.
