Omaha Drops Sunday Match at North Dakota State, 2-0

FARGO, N.D. – North Dakota State took the second meeting with Omaha women's soccer Sunday afternoon. The Mavericks gave up a couple goals in the first half and fall to the Bison for the second time, 2-0.
 
With the loss, the Mavericks fall to 2-2-2 on the year.

How It Happened
  • On their first two shots of the match, NDSU put two goals in the back of the net to take an early lead over Omaha.
  • In the 19th minute, Ellie Schneider took the Bison's first shot and put it past Mia Reedtz Rehde Olesen in goal. Kelsey Kallio tallied an assist.
  • Less than ten minutes later, Jess Hanley added another to the board for NDSU. Katrina Patscot and Aliya Owens assisted.
  • Avarie Howard took Omaha's first shot in the 30th minute, but it was off target left of the goal. Sophia Green recorded another in the 44th minute but would miss right. Both teams finished the half with two shots, and the Bison led 2-0 at the break.
  • Grace Thede forced the first NDSU save in goal in the 55th minute. Thede sent a shot at the bottom left for Omaha's first shot on goal of the match. Aly Cole made the stop.
  • Green and Grace Crockett tallied two more shots off target in the next ten minutes of action.
  • The Bison got one final look on goal in the 87th minute. Olesen would make the save, but the Bison would take a 2-0 win.
 
Inside the Box Score
  • Omaha out-shot NDSU 7-3, but the Bison held a 3-1 advantage on goal. All of NDSU's shots were on goal, including the two converted into goals.
  • Thede took Omaha's only shot on goal. It is also the first shot on goal in her career.
  • Green led the Mavericks with two shots, while Margaret LaVigne, Crockett, Sydney Randall, and Howard added one each in the match.
  • Olesen made her third start in goal. She recorded one save and falls to 1-1-1 on the year.
