How It Happened
  • There was no shortage of Omaha goals Friday afternoon, and Daves secured the team's first win of the season at the 9:43 mark with the first goal of the match. Alyssa Hansen sent a pass into the box, and Daves sent it high in the net. UND's goalkeeper would get her hands on it, but the ball went through to score.
  • Hannah Heinemann made it a 2-0 game going into the halftime break. Avarie Howard set up for a corner kick and sent the ball into the box. Heinemann made the jump and headed the ball into the lower left corner scoring her first of the game.
  • The Hawks took three straight shots to open the second half including one on goal in the 53rd minute. Madeline Smith made the save gaining possession for the Mavericks. Emilie Erland fired a shot on goal down field but didn't connect.
  • Heinemann got her second chance of the game and put Omaha's third goal on the board in the 65th minute. Erland made a pass inside the top of the box to Heinemann who sent the ball to the top right corner for her second goal of the game.
  • Laurin Mertz connected next for the Mavericks at the 73:48 mark. Regan Zimmers took a shot from the left side of the box that hit the left post. Mertz was there on the rebound and buried it in the bottom right.
  • Five minutes later Sophia Green tallied her first career goal. Erland set a cross pass from the left wing to Green who put it in the bottom left of the net. Omaha wins 5-0.
