OMAHA, Neb. – For the second straight game, the Mavericks shutout defending Summit League champions South Dakota State, 0-0. The teams played to a 0-0 double-overtime draw and finish the 2020-21 opening weekend 0-0-2.

How It Happened
  • Both teams took an aggressive start to the game. SDSU fired off three shots, while Omaha took two in the first ten minutes of action. • Mia Reedtz Rehde Olesen saw her first shot on goal at the 8:02 mark and tallied her first career-save in goal for Omaha. Olesen would get another six minutes later on a shot by Eden Brooker.
  • Before the end of the first half, Olesen faced another two shots on goal and tallied her third and fourth saves before the break. Omaha would finish the first with three total shots to SDSU's nine.
  • SDSU only needed two minutes to get started again with their first shot coming at the 47:27 mark. Olesen made another stop in the bottom left of the net.
  • Margaret LaVigne took Omaha's first shot of the game in the 82nd minute. Zimmers would fire another one off a minute later.
  • Rachel Hewitt had the best look of the half for the Jackrabbits. With less than four minutes left on the clock, Hewitt sent a ball from the far right side of the box. Olesen got a hand on it in the top right of the goal and sent it bouncing off the crossbar ending regulation in a 0-0 draw.
  • The Mavericks wouldn't see a shot in the first overtime period. SDSU only managed two off target. The Jackrabbits would take only one more in the second overtime in the 105th minute.
