Bremer's Hat Trick Powers Mavericks Past Tigers, 7-1

OMAHA, Neb. – Freshman Brock Bremer scored his first career hat trick and added two assists to help the No. 10 Omaha hockey team shoot past Colorado College, 7-1, on Friday night at Baxter Arena.

Brandon Scanlin and Jimmy Glynn each had a goal and an assist for the Mavericks while Jonny Tychonick and Jake Harrison both had two assists.

Omaha got its fifth win in as many tries against the Tigers this season, improving to 12-6-1 overall and 12-6-1-3-0 (1) in the NCHC, putting them in fourth place.  CC fell to 3-12-2 overall and 3-12-2-0-2 (2) in the conference, putting it eighth.

Inside the First Period
The Mavericks opened the scoring halfway through the first.  Harrison rang a shot off the post from the high slot, but Chayse Primeau swept home the rebound at 9:07.

Inside the Second Period
Bremer picked up two of his goals during a five-minute power play in the second.  He took a pass from Tychonick, walked down the right side and rifled a shot to the top corner far side.

A little over three minutes later, he caught a rink-wide pass from Jack Randl and fired another shot past goalie Dominic Basse to make it 3-0.

Omaha piled it on late in the period.  Jimmy Glynn, minutes after having a goal disallowed following a video review, took a centering pass from Nolan Krenzen who had made a nifty rush up ice.  Glynn slid the puck into a gaping net for his second of the year.

Ryan Brushett followed that goal 1:10 later, picking up his first of the year on a tic-tac-toe play with Martin Sundberg and Scanlin to make it 5-0 after two.

Inside the Third Period
Colorado College pushed back in the third, breaking Isaiah Saville's shutout bid with a goal from Jackson Jutting at 13:42.

But less than a minute later, Scanlin wired home his second of the year with a slap shot from the blue line to restore the five-goal cushion.

Bremer then completed his hat trick with just 18 seconds remaining, sliding the puck under relief goalie Matt Vernon for his fifth of the year.

Saville stopped 26 for his 10th win of the year, tying his career best.  Basse took the loss with 24 saves and three goals against.  Vernon allowed four goals on 19 shots as Omaha registered a season high 46 shots on goal.

The two teams will finish the weekend and their six-game season series on Saturday at 6:07 p.m.
