Omaha Falters at Montana

MISSOULA, Mont. – Two Mavericks put up 10 points each for Omaha Saturday night, but it wasn't enough to get past the Grizzlies. Montana snapped a two-game skid with a 68-47 win.
 
The Mavericks fall to 1-3 overall.
 
Leaders for Omaha
Felix Lemetti and Nick Ferrarini led the Omaha offense both notching 10 points on 4-of-10 from the field. In his season debut, Ferrarini connected on two threes and grabbed two boards. Lemetti tallied five rebounds, two assists, and a steal.
 
Luedtke led Omaha with six rebounds. He fell shy of double-figures with nine points ending his double-figure scoring streak.
 
Leaders for Montana
Josh Bannan recorded a double-double with 24 points and 12 rebounds. He was 10-of-14 from the field with two three-pointers. Brandon Whitney added 13 points.
 
Cameron Parker did a bit of everything finishing with six points, six rebounds, and a game-high five assists.
 
Team Stats
Omaha shot 33.3 percent from the field and 46.7 percent from the arc, while Montana finished 42.6 percent of its field goals and struggled from long range only shooting 26.3 percent. The Grizzlies took advantage from the foul line converting 17-of-21 attempts. Omaha only managed eight total attempts and netted four of them.
 
Montana took over the paint outscoring Omaha, 34-18. The Grizzlies also converted 23 points on 18 turnovers. The Maverick bench came through again edging Montana's, 32-30.
 
Inside the First Half
Sam'i Roe hit the first field goal of the game at the 17:25 mark with a three-pointer to give the Mavericks a 3-1 lead. The Grizzlies tied it a little over a minute later on a Bannan jumper. The Grizzlies then held Omaha scoreless until the 8:05 mark blowing open their lead, 17-3. Luedtke snapped the scoreless streak with jumper in the paint.
 
In the final eight minutes, Omaha put up 14 points, which included Ferrarini's first points of the season on a three-pointer. Luedtke also connected from long range, while Lemetti scored the final points of the half in the paint. Montana took a 29-17 lead into the break.
 
Inside the Second Half
Darrius Hughes used the first 15 seconds of the second half to put his name on the board for the Mavericks with a drive into the lane. It cut the Montana lead to 10, but the Grizzlies responded with a 9-0 run. Akol Arop and Marco Smith snapped the scoreless stretch with a pair of baskets for the Mavericks.
 
A three from Lemetti with 7:20 left in the half cut the Montana lead to 12 points. It would be the closest the Mavericks got in the final stretch of the game. The Grizzlies went on to win, 68-47.
 
Noting Tonight's Game
-Ferrarini and Wanjang Tut made their season debuts Saturday night.
-Ferrarini and Lemetti led Omaha in scoring with 10 points each.
- It marks the fourth career game with 10+ points for Ferrarini and the first career game for Lemetti.

Omaha plays another pair of games on the road next week. First up, the Mavericks head to Lubbock, Texas to play Texas Tech on Tuesday, Nov. 23. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.
