K-State's Hot Shooting Downs Omaha

MANHATTAN, Kan. – Kyle Luedtke notched a career-high 16 points in Omaha's loss at Kansas State Wednesday night. The Wildcats shot nearly 53 percent from the field powering them to a 79-64 win.
 
Leaders for Omaha
Luedtke was the only Maverick to hit double-figures tonight with a career-high 16 points. It marks the third straight game this season fifth consecutive game in double-digits dating back to last season. He finished 6-for-14 with four threes for the Mavericks.
 
Darrius Hughes grabbed a team-high four boards, while Felix Lemetti nabbed three steals. Marco Smith and Dylan Brougham recorded career-highs. Smith tallied six assists, while Brougham recorded four blocked shots.
 
Leaders for Kansas State
Ismael Massoud and Nijel Pack led the Wildcats with 15 points each. Each connected on five field goals, including three from long range. Mark Smith and Markquis Nowell scored 11 apiece to round out the double-figure scoring efforts.
 
Selton Miguel led K-State with six assists, while Pack added five.
 
Team Stats
Omaha's bench combined for 39 points to K-State's 22. The Mavericks also capitalized on the fast break outscoring the Wildcats 17-12.
 
K-State was hot from the field finishing the game shooting 52.8 percent. They converted nine threes for 47.4 percent from the arc. The Mavericks tallied a season-high 11 three-pointers made and shot just over 40 percent.
 
Inside the First Half
The Wildcats used a 15-2 run in the first five minutes to build an early lead vs. the Mavericks. Out of the timeout, Luedtke connected on his first three followed by a put back layup from Isaiah Poor Bear-Chandler to cut the K-State lead to eight.
 
Omaha would get the lead down to six on a layup from Akol Arop at the 8:04 mark. An 11-0 run for the Wildcats opened the lead back up with 3:47 left in the half. Luedtke and Massoud traded threes down the stretch, but K-State took a 42-26 lead into the halftime break.
 
Inside the Second Half
After a 7-0 run to open the second, the Mavericks trailed by 23. Omaha used a 10-0 run to cut the lead back down to 12 points. Lemetti capped the run with a three in transition forcing a K-State timeout. Pack hit another from long range to snap the scoreless streak for the Wildcats. It was matched with a jumper from Luedtke to get Omaha withing 13 with 8:25 left in the second half. Omaha wouldn't get back within 15 of K-State until the final three from Devin Evans with under a minute to play. K-State took a 79-64 win.
 
Noting Tonight's Game
-Luedtke was the lone Maverick in double-figures. It marked a career-high and fifth straight game in double-figures dating back to last season.
-Omaha has had at least one player score double-digits in every game so far this season.
-Smith's six assists and Brougham's four blocks are also career-highs.
-The Mavericks' 11 three-pointers made marks a season-high.
