Green Nets Golden Goal at UND

GRAND FORKS, N.D. - Sophia Green led the Mavericks to a weekend sweep and back-to-back shutouts after netting the game winner in the 102nd minute vs. North Dakota Sunday afternoon. It marks the second time this season Green recorded the golden goal for Omaha.

With the win, the Mavericks improve to 8-6-2 overall and 5-2-0 in Summit League play.

  • In the first half, Andrea Daves recorded the only shot on goal. It came in the fourth minute of action. Madi Livingston made a stop low center for her first save of the match.
  • Just over a minute into the second half, the Fighting Hawks put their first attempt on target. Lexi Miller challenged Rachel Thigpen who made the stop between the pipes.

  • Grace Thede recorded Omaha's only shot on goal of the half in the final 40 seconds of regulation, but Livingston stayed strong in goal and the match headed to overtime.
  • Emilie Erland nearly ended the match in the 100th minute with a header to the low left of the goal. Livingston collapsed on the ball before two other Mavericks could get their foot on it for an attempt.
  • In the second overtime period, Sena Ahovissi took the ball down towards the right side of the box. She made a pass up to Grace Ostergaard who sent a cross into the box to Green. Green headed it in for the golden goal. Omaha wins, 1-0.
