FARGO, N.D. - Omaha opened a two-game road trip Friday night with a shutout vs. the Bison.
Andrea Daves scored the game winner in the 25th minute helping the Mavericks to a 4-0 win. Three different Mavericks scored a goal, while three recorded assists.
With the win, the Mavericks improve to 7-6-2 overall and 4-2 in league play.
How It Happened
- Despite the loss, North Dakota State put the pressure on early managing the first shot on goal attempt in the 5th minute. Rachel Thigpen who got the start for Omaha made the stop to tally an early save.
- Daves struck next and recorded the first goal of the match. Regan Zimmers made a pass to Daves who was just outside the top of the box. She used one touch and fired the ball to the goal where it hit the cross bar and bounced down and in for a 1-0 edge in the 25th minute.
- In the 40th minute, Sophia Green netted her second attempt. Marissa Gohr made a pass up the middle of the field to Green who beat her defended and popped a shot over the charging goalkeeper. Omaha took a 2-0 lead into the second half.
- NDSU opened the second half much like the first with the first attempt on target. Aliya Owens forced Thigpen to make her second stop in goal at the 52:19 mark.
- Cece Behrens extended Omaha's lead 3-0 in the 66th minute. Daves set up for a free kick and sent the pass into the box. Behrens headed the ball down and fired a shot over the keeper. It hit the crossbar and bounced in for the third Maverick goal.
- Less than six minutes later, Daves netted her second of the night and Omaha's final goal. Emilie Erland found Daves just outside the top of the box where she fired and found the back of the net. The Mavericks won 4-0.
Inside the Box
- Daves's goal in the 25th minute marked the first of the season for the senior forward. It also marked the fourth game winner for Daves.
- Her two goals tonight mark a single-game high. She now has eight career goals.
- Green's goal in the 40th minute and Behrens's goal in the 65th minute are their third goals of the year. They tie as the team leader.
- Zimmers, Gohr, and Erland all finished with assists tonight.
- Omaha's 11 points in tonight's match marks a season-high.
- The four goals are the most the Mavericks have scored since their 5-0 win vs. North Dakota last season on Feb. 19.
- Thigpen notches the win in goal. She made the start and recorded two saves.
- Carly Cameron made her career debut and logged the final 6:44 between the pipes.
