Omaha Blanks St. Thomas Sunday Afternoon

OMAHA, Neb. - The Mavericks finished the weekend's action 2-0 after picking up a 1-0 shutout at St. Thomas Sunday afternoon. Marrisa Gohr recorded her first career goal in the 13th minute leading Omaha to the win.

The Mavericks improve to 5-5-2 overall and 2-1-0 in league play.

How It Happened
  • Regan Zimmers applied pressure from the start of the match firing off two shots in the first three minutes of action. Both went off target for the Mavericks. Grace Ostergaard recorded the match's next attempt at the 8:27 mark, but the Tommies blocked the shot.
  • Marissa Gohr broke through for Omaha in the 13th minute finding the back of the net. Grace Thede sent a cross to the middle of the box where Gohr used one touch to put it by the St. Thomas goalkeeper. The Mavericks went up 1-0.
  • Three minutes later, the Tommies took their first shot of the match putting it on target. The ball rolled easily into Rachel Thigpen's hands for her first save of the match.
  • St. Thomas managed one more shot on goal before the end of the half, but Thigpen made another stop to hold on to a 1-0 edge going into the break.
  • In the second half, Zimmers and Reagen Bourgeois put back-to-back shot on goal in the 67th minute looking to double the Omaha lead. Olivia Graupmann stopped both from finding the back of the net.
  • Neither team took another shot on target in the half, and the Mavericks win, 1-0.
