OMAHA, Neb. - The Mavericks hosted defending champions Denver Friday night for their Summit League opener. The Pioneers netted the game winner at the 1:53 mark and took a 2-0 win.
With the loss, Omaha falls to 3-5-2 overall and 0-1-0 in the Summit League.
How It Happened
- Kaitlyn Glover started the match out with a goal on the first shot attempt of the night. Natalie Beckman used a pass inside the goal area to Glover. Glover popped the shot over Mia Reedtz Rehde Olesen and it bounced in for a goal at the 1:53 mark.
- Grace Ostergaard struck next in the match in the 10th minute. She sent a hard shot from the top of the box, but it was stopped by Nerea Arrazola on the ground.
- Denver's next attempt came in the 17th minute. This time Sydney Sharp scored low left on an a second assist from Beckman.
- The Mavericks and Pioneers combined for three more shots in the half. All were off target, and Denver took a 2-0 edge into the break.
- Denver's next attempt on goal came in te 52nd minute. Thigpen punched it high above the net for the save.
- Grace Ostergaard, Andrea Daves, Sena Ahovissi, and Regan Zimmers tallied shots in the second half, but couldn't convert for Omaha. Denver wins, 2-0.
