CHICAGO, Ill. – The Omaha women's tennis team picked up a hard-fought victory over Chicago State Friday afternoon, 4-3.
"It was another tough match with Chicago State," said Director of Tennis
Adam Summitt. "They always come to play and we've had some close battles the last few times out. We continue to play great doubles and we are clicking right now. We just need to keep it going."
The Mavericks won the doubles point behind victories from the duos of
Natalie Lorentz and
Marie Kapelevich (6-1) at No. 2, and
Savanna Crowell and
Emily Behling (6-4) at No. 3.
Omaha also saw singles victories at the No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 spots. Crowell picked up a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 4, while
Emily Behling won 4-6, 6-1, 6-2 at No. 5.
In the No. 6 singles spot,
Marie Kapelevich defeated her opponent 6-1, 6-4.
The Mavericks resume action tomorrow at 5 p.m. against Green Bay.
