Adam Summitt

Adam Summitt was named the head women's tennis coach in August 2016. He served as the director of tennis in the 2019-20 season overseeing both programs that year.

Now in his ninth year with the program, Summit picked up his 100th career victory against Marquette University on Feb. 16, 2024. The Mavericks finished the 2023-24 season on a four-match win streak, including three Summit League opponents. Three players earned All-Summit League honors in 2023-24 under Summitt. Zoe Adkins and Paula Arcarons were named to the group, with Khayli Buckels as an honorable mention.

2022-23 saw the Mavericks qualify for the conference tournament. Jessica Aragon was given All-Summit League Honors, and Zoe Adkins was given an honorable mention.

2021-22, Summitt helped the Mavericks post a 12-11 overall record with a 4-3 finish in the Summit League. The Mavericks earned the No. 4 seed in the conference tournament and took on No. 1 Denver in the opening round.
 
Summitt helped Ines Absisan and Natalie Lorentz collect the season's final two Athlete of the Week honors, while Freshman Alexia Di Giulio was tabbed All-Summit.
 
In 2020-21, Omaha earned nine wins on the season. Madison Gallegos brought home the first weekly honor of the season following a pair of wins at Eastern Illinois and Illinois State.
 
Prior to the early cancelation of the 2019-20 season, the Mavericks posted a 10-4 record with wins vs. UNI, Nebraska-Kearney, McPherson, SLU, Northern Illinois, Kansas City, Missouri State, Northern Colorado, Chicago State, and Green Bay. The season was cut short on March 12 due to COVID.
 
For the 2018-19 season, Summitt helped guide his team to the program's first Summit League Championship title game after defeating North Dakota in the semifinal round. 
 
In just his second season for 2017-18, Summitt helped the Mavericks tally a runner-up finish in The Summit League with a 4-1 record and advanced to the conference tournament's semifinals. 
 
Throughout his tenure, Summitt has coached seven all-league selections Michelle Lo (2017-18), Marie Kapelevich (2018) and Janelle Wilson (2018-19), Natalie Lorentz (2019), Jessica Aragon (2022-23), Zoe Adkins (2023-24) and Paula Arcarons (2023-24). 
 
Summitt came to UNO after two seasons at Ottawa University in Ottawa, Kan., from 2014-16. In 2015-16, he led the women's team to a program-best record of 20-8, including the best start in school history at 12-2. The Braves achieved their first top-25 national ranking, notched a pair of wins over nationally-ranked teams and finished as runner-up in the KCAC Tournament. Summitt guided three players to All-KCAC honors last season and two others in 2014-15.
 
Summitt began his collegiate coaching career as an assistant coach at Grand View from 2012-14 and was honored as the ITA NAIA Central Region Men's Assistant Coach of the Year in 2013-14. He also served as a tennis professional at the Des Moines Golf and Country Club (2013-14), Wakonda Country Club (2012-13) and Aspen Athletic Clubs (2012-13). Entering the 2023 season, Summitt currently sits at 90 career wins for his head coaching tenure.
 
Summitt earned his bachelor's degree in sports administration from Simpson College in 2012 and his master's in recreation and sport science from Ohio in 2015.  A native of Des Moines, Iowa, Adam currently resides in Omaha with his wife, Courtney, and son, Asher.
