OXFORD, Ohio – The Omaha hockey team fell to Miami 3-0 on Friday night at Steve Cady Arena.
The Mavericks dropped to 13-15-5 overall and 7-11-3-0/0 in the NCHC, putting them sixth while the RedHawks improved to 7-19-5 overall and 4-14-3-2/0 in the NCHC.
The RedHawks outshot the Mavericks 12-6 in the first period and took a 1-0 lead when Karch Bachman knocked in a pass from Gordie Green at 16:50.
Miami doubled its lead when Ryan Savage banged home a pass from Matt Barry for a power play goal at 14:13.
The RedHawks got a power play goal from Gordie Green in the third to complete the scoring.
Isaiah Saville made 32 saves for the Mavericks while Miami's Ryan Larkin stopped 19 shots.
The two teams finish the series on Saturday at 6:05 p.m. CT.
