OXFORD, Ohio – The Miami RedHawks got a pair of goals in the second and third periods to pull away for a 4-0 win over the Omaha hockey team on Saturday night at Steve Cady Arena.
The Mavericks are now 13-16-5 overall and 7-12-3-0/0 in the NCHC, putting them sixth. Miami improved to 8-19-5 overall and 5-14-3-2/0 in the conference, good for seventh.
The RedHawks seized the lead at 4:17 of the second period when Grant Frederic's shot from the right point ricocheted in off a skate. The play was upheld by video review.
Miami doubled its lead on a power play at 5:44. Ryan Savage knocked in the rebound of a shot by Casey Gilling for his second goal of the weekend.
The RedHawks padded their lead with goals from Gilling and Gordie Green in the third to complete the scoring.
Isaiah Saville finished with a game-high 36 saves while Miami's Ryan Larkin stopped 29 shots.
The Mavericks will finish the season at home against North Dakota on Friday and Saturday, March 6-7.
