SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Omaha women's tennis bounced back from yesterday's loss and captured a 5-2 win over Missouri State on the road Saturday morning.
The Mavericks (7-2) downed the Bears (2-6) with the doubles point and singles wins from
Ines Absisan,
Madison Gallegos,
Savanna Crowell and
Emily Behling.
"What a great win today," said Director of Tennis
Adam Summitt. "The Central Arkansas match was very uncharacteristic of this team. Today, we turned it around and really showed our passion for the sport and for each other. The girls knew what they had to do and they went out and accomplished that. I'm very proud of them all and we look to have a great week of practice to build on for our next match."
Omaha won the double point as the team of Absisan and Gallegos won 7-6 (3) at No. 1, while Crowell and Behling took a 7-5 result at No. 3.
For singles, Missouri State grabbed a win at No. 3 to make it 1-all, but Omaha regained the lead with Crowell's victory at No. 4 (6-3, 6-4). Absisan secured a singles win at No. 1 with a 6-1, 3-6, 6-1 win which made it 3-1 Omaha. Later on, Gallegos clinched the match at No. 2 with a 7-6, 7-5 win at No. 2, which made it 4-1. Behling gave the Mavericks their fifth point on the day with a 6-3, 3-6, 1-0 (11) victory at No. 5.
