Omaha Wins Fifth-Straight In 6-1 Decision Over Kansas City

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Omaha women's tennis picked up its fifth-straight win on the season with a 6-1 victory over Kansas City Saturday afternoon on the road.

The Mavericks were previously 0-4 all-time against the Roos in program history prior to win.

Omaha gained the doubles point, while singles wins from Ines Absisan, Madison Gallegos, Savanna Crowell, Emily Behling and Lillian Tiemeyer sealed the team victory.

"It was a solid win today versus a tough Kansas City team," said Director of Tennis Adam Summitt. "The girls did a fantastic job today and competed very well. We started off slow and had some mental lapses, but we turned a corner and really dug in. Ines and Madison were down 2-5 and kept us in the match by coming back and winning their sets. That pushed everyone to do better and get to the finish line."

The duo of Gallegos and Absisan won 6-3 at No. 1 doubles, while Crowell and Behling cruised to a 6-1 win at No. 3. For singles, Omaha went up 2-0 after Absisan defeated her opponent 7-5, 2-1. Tiemeyer put the Mavericks in a 3-0 team advantage with her 6-2, 6-4 decision at No. 6, followed by Crowell clinching the match point (4-0) with a 6-3, 3-6, 6-4 win at No. 4. The final two wins for Omaha came at No. 2 from Gallegos (7-5, 7-5) and No. 5 from Behling (6-0, 3-6, 1-0 (8)).

Omaha looks ahead to next weekend with matches Friday through Saturday, Feb. 21-22. The Mavericks travel to Springfield, Mo., to take on Central Arkansas ant Missouri State. For more information, visit OMavs.com.
