Murdie Records Double-Double in 84-57 Setback at ORU

TULSA, Okla. – The Omaha women's basketball program dropped an 84-57 game on the road at Oral Roberts Thursday evening at the Maybee Center. 

Omaha drops to 6-18 overall and 1-10 in league play, while the Golden Eagles improve to 12-13 overall and 7-5 in Summit League play. 

LEADERS FOR OMAHA 
Mariah Murdie recorded her fifth-career double-double with 20 points and a season-high 13 rebounds. She has also notched three 20-plus point efforts this season. Ella Ogier followed with 12 points and Rayanna Carter rounded out the double-digit efforts with 10. 

LEADERS FOR ORAL ROBERTS 
The Golden Eagles had six players reach double figures. Keni Jo Lippe had a game-high 21 points, followed by Sarah Garvie (15), Regan Schumacher (13 points, 11 rebounds), Jentry Holt (11), Rylie Torrey (10) and Montserrat Brotons (10)

INSIDE THE FIRST HALF 
Omaha trailed early in the game, but a pair of Murdie free throws evened the game at 10-all with 3:51 to go in the quarter. Two-straight Murdie buckets and an Akili Felici three put the Mavericks ahead 18-16 after one quarter of play. Kia Wilson also attempted and knocked down her first-career three in the first. A 25-11 second quarter fell in favor of the Golden Eagles, as the Mavericks fell behind double-digits after a Keni Jo Lippe and-one (39-29). At the half, Oral Roberts built a 41-29 lead over Omaha. 

INSIDE THE SECOND HALF 
The double-digit deficit stayed throughout the third quarter as Omaha was outscored 22-20 in the frame. Omaha cut it to nine (48-39) with 5:48 to go in the quarter on a Carter jumper, but the Golden Eagles maintained a 63-49 advantage heading into the fourth. ORU proceeded to outscore the Mavericks 21-8 in the final quarter and cruise to an 84-57 win. 

LOOKING AHEAD 
Omaha returns to action inside Baxter Arena this Saturday, Feb. 15, at 7 p.m. The game also marks the #Play4Kay 'Pink Day' for breast cancer awareness. The first 200 fans will receive a free pink t-shirt prior to tipoff. For more information, visit OMavs.com.
