Omaha Drops Two to North Dakota State

FARGO, N.D. – The Omaha softball team dropped both games during a Summit League doubleheader against North Dakota State on Friday at Tharaldson Park.  The Bison won the first game 8-1 and took game two 11-0 in five innings.

The Mavericks and Bison conclude their weekend series with a single game on Saturday at 11 a.m.

North Dakota State 8, Omaha 1 (Game One)
North Dakota State scored once in the bottom of the first and second innings and defeated the Mavericks in the opener of Friday's doubleheader.

Stephanie Soriano reached on an error and later scored on Maddie Hansen's RBI double.

Omaha tied the game 1-1 in the top of the second on Lexi Burkhardt's two-out home run.  The Bison regained the lead on Montana DeCamp's RBI single.

NDSU added to the final score with four runs in the fourth and two more in the fifth to make the final score 8-1.

Burkhardt went 1-for-2 with a home run to lead the Mavericks.  Savannah Fisher went 1-for-1 at the plate.

Ryanne Millington (2-12) allowed eight runs (four earned) on 13 hits and a walk over six innings of work.  NDSU starter KK Leddy (19-7) allowed one run on one hit with seven strikeouts over six innings.

North Dakota State 11, Omaha 0 (5 innings)
NDSU starter Paige Vargas limited Omaha to two hits over five innings in the second game of Friday's doubleheader.  Lauren Lauvetz went 1-for-2 at the plate with a double, while Alexa Sedlak went 1-for-2.

Omaha starter Halley Jones (1-12) allowed 11 runs (10 earned) on nine hits and eight walks with two strikeouts over four innings.  Vargas struck out six batters over five innings.

Vanessa Anderson put NDSU on the board in the bottom of the first with a grand slam.  Cara Beatty's two-run homer highlighted a three-run second inning as the Bison increased the lead to 7-0.  North Dakota State added two runs in the third and fourth innings to make the final score 11-0.

Omaha moved to 4-39 overall and 2-12 in the Summit League, while the Bison improved to 33-12 (13-1).
