OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha softball team welcomed Iowa State for the Mavericks' 2019 non-conference finale Wednesday evening, falling 13-6 in eight innings at Westside Field at Westbrook.  The Mavericks are now 4-37 on the season, while the Cyclones improved 28-18.

The win went to ISU reliever Emma Hylen (14-7), who threw six innings and allowed two runs on seven hits and a walk with five strikeouts.  The loss went to Halley Jones (1-11), who surrendered eight runs on 10 hits and six walks in 5.1 innings of work.

Lauren Lauvetz finished 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and three RBI to lead the Mavericks, while Jamie White was 3-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and two RBI.  Emily Klosterman went 2-for-3 with a double and scored two runs.

Kaylee Bosworth finished 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI to lead the Cyclones, while Sami Williams was 3-for-3 with a home run and two RBI.

Iowa State struck first, opening the game to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning.  Williams opened the game with a single and stole second, before moving to third on ground out.  Bosworth lifted a sacrifice fly to right field to bring Williams home.

Omaha responded with two runs on two hits in the bottom of the first.  Emma Dargy was hit by a pitch and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt.  White hit an RBI double to score Dargy, then with two outs, Lauvetz doubled to plate White for a 2-1 advantage.

Iowa State used three home runs in the third to take a 5-2 lead.

The Mavericks tied things in the bottom half of the third.  Singles to center by Klosterman, White and Cameron loaded the bases.  Lauvetz doubled down the left field line to trim the score to 5-4.  Cameron crossed the plate on a Hailey Bartz ground out to even things at 5-5.

Omaha regained the lead in the fourth.  With two outs, Klosterman singled before White delivered an RBI double to put the Mavericks in front 6-5.

ISU tied the game 6-6 on Schaben's lead-off homer in the sixth.  Then the Cyclones plated seven unanswered runs in the top of the eighth for the 13-6 win.
