Omaha Topped By Oral Roberts In Series Finale

TULSA, Okla. – Omaha baseball fell 10-7 in Sunday's rubber match at Oral Roberts.

The Mavericks drop to 20-9-1 and 13-2 in Summit League action, while the Golden Eagles win the series and improve to 16-17 and 8-7 in the conference.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Max Gamm led the way for Omaha with four hits on three runs and a double with two stolen bases. Omaha used five different arms in the game, as Andrew Brighton fell to 2-2 and Oral Roberts' Hunter Swift improved to 3-0. Spencer Henson was credited with his third save of the season for the Golden Eagles.

ORU's Blake hall tallied five hits with four runs and six total RBI. He also had a grand slam in the second inning.

INSIDE THE INNINGS
Omaha built a 4-0 early lead, but saw it disappear after two innings. With the bases loaded in the first, Ben Palensky was hit by a pitch, which scored Gamm. The next two runs came on Brett Bonar's fielder's choice that scored Braden Rogers. A throwing error on the same play plated Keil Krumwiede and put the Mavericks ahead 3-0.

In the top of the second, Krumwiede singled up the middle for an RBI that scored Gamm and made it 4-0 Mavericks. The Golden Eagles, however, took the lead in the bottom of the frame with a double-RBI. With the bases loaded, ORU plated the next run on a hit-by-pitch that made it 4-2. Hall then stepped up to the plate and cracked a grand slam that put Omaha in a 6-4 deficit.

The ORU lead increased to three (7-4) later in the fourth on a single-RBI. Omaha was able to mount a comeback and tie it at 7-all with three runs in the bottom of the sixth. Krumwiede's sacrifice fly scored Gamm, and then with the bases loaded on two outs, DeBonville singled to right center for a pair of RBI.

The momentum did not last long as Oral Roberts was able to keep up its offensive attack and score two more in the bottom of the sixth on a single-RBI and a walk with loaded bases. An ORU home run in the eighth scored the final run of game.
