Saint Louis, Mo. – Omaha starter
Sydney Hampton scattered two hits over seven innings of work, but a solo home run and a pair of errors proved costly in the final game of the Billiken Spring Tournament. Southeast Missouri State plated three runs, two unearned, to take a 3-1 decision.
Emma Dargy went 2-for-3 with a home run and an RBI to lead the Mavericks.
Natalie Mostek went 1-for-3 with a double.
Hailey Bartz and
Lexi Burkhardt each had singles for Omaha.
Starter
Sydney Hampton (1-9) pitched a complete game for Omaha, allowing three runs (one earned) on two hits and two walks with a strikeout.
Dargy led off the third inning with a solo homer to left center field as the Mavericks jumped in front 1-0.
Southeast Missouri State did its damage in the bottom of the fourth. Mykaela Arellanes led off the inning with a solo home run to right center. A walk, single and a pair of Omaha errors led to two more runs as the Redhawks went in front 3-1.
The Mavericks put a runner on third base in the seventh inning, but SEMO reliever Rachel Rooks worked out of trouble and secured the win.
