LAWRENCE, Kan. – The Omaha softball team dropped an 8-0 decision to Kansas Arrocha Ballpark at Rock Chalk Park on Monday.
Sydney Hampton (1-10) took the loss, allowing three runs on four hits and a walk in 3.0 innings.
Ryanne Millington and
Halley Jones pitched the final two innings in relief. Millington allowed five runs on four hits and two walks, while Jones faced one batter and allowed one hit.
Kansas scored once in each of the first three innings and made it 4-0 in the bottom of the fifth with a solo home run. The Jayhawks then posted four runs in the bottom of the sixth for the win.
Jayhawk starting pitcher Lexy Milles (3-4) struck out 10 batters and walked four on her way to a no-hitter.
The Maverick offense was held hitless, but
Emma Dargy reached base twice on a walk and was hit by a pitch.
Alyssa DiFiore,
Susan Rice and
Alexa Sedlak also earned walks in the contest.
Omaha opens Summit League play this weekend with a three-game set against South Dakota State. The Mavericks and Jackrabbits will play a doubleheader on Saturday, March 23 starting at noon.
