Mavericks Topped By Eastern Illinois In Road Game, 65-52

CHARLESTON, Ill. – The Omaha women's basketball program fell 65-52 on the road at Eastern Illinois Saturday afternoon. 

The Mavericks (4-6) were led by the double-digit scoring efforts of Akili Felici (11 points) and Mariah Murdie (10 points) in the loss to the Panthers (5-3). 

LEADERS FOR OMAHA 
Felici tallied her first-career game as the team's scoring leader with a career-high of 11 points. Murdie's 10 points marked her second double-digit scoring performance on the season. Murdie also narrowly missed out on a double-double with a team-best nine rebounds. Rayanna Carter recorded nine points, five assists and two steals while Josie Filer followed with eight points and seven boards. 

LEADERS FOR EASTERN ILLINOIS 
Lariah Washington recorded a game-high 18 points, followed by Karle Pace with 14. Both players also had a team-high of six rebounds. 

INSIDE THE FIRST HALF 
Eastern Illinois opened the game on a 10-3 run and eventually built a 23-10 lead after the first quarter that was capped off by a three. The Mavericks saw the double-digit deficit increase to as many as 17 (40-23) with just over three minutes remaining in the second quarter. At the half, Omaha trailed 42-28. 

INSIDE THE SECOND HALF 
Omaha was outscored 14-10 in the third quarter, but was able to cut the score to 11 points (44-33) at the 6:28 mark. Eastern Illinois, however, responded and built a 56-38 lead after three quarters of play. Omaha made a late run in the fourth and outscored the Panthers 14-9. The Mavericks cut it to nine on two different occasions with 4:25 and 3:04 to go on a pair of threes by Abby Johnson and Felici. Despite the late run, Omaha was unable to close the gap and fell by 13 points to the Panthers. 

NOTES 
•    Akili Felici recorded a career-high 11 points on a trio of 3-pointers made. 
•    Mariah Murdie almost tallied her third-career double-double. 
•    Claire Killian's streak of multiple threes in a game ends at seven-straight games. 
•    Omaha falls to 3-2 all-time against the Panthers and 0-2 in Charleston. 
•    The Mavericks fall to 0-4 on the road this season.
