Mavericks Topped By Cleveland State In Sunday Contest

OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha women's basketball team dropped a 79-66 result to Cleveland State Sunday afternoon inside Baxter Arena. 

Omaha falls to 4-8 overall while the Vikings improve to 9-1. 

LEADERS FOR OMAHA 
Mariah Murdie led the way with a team-high 13 points, while the duo of Josie Filer and Akili Felici had 12 points apiece. Felici also had a career-high four threes made in the game. Murdie recorded her first double-double with 11 rebounds. 

LEADERS FOR CLEVELAND STATE 
Mariah Miller scored a game-high 18 points. Three other Vikings followed in double figures with Mariah White (17), JaMiya Braxton (15) and Savanna Crockett (15). Crockett also had a team-high seven rebounds. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE 
Omaha shot 24-for-57 on 42.1% shooting with 36 total rebounds on 19 turnovers. Cleveland State shot 50.8% on 32-of-63 shooting and 46.7% from beyond the arc. The Vikings had five blocks, 12 steals and 15 assists on 12 turnovers. 

INSIDE THE FIRST HALF 
Both teams exchanged baskets in the opening quarter. With second winding down in the opening 10 minutes, Cleveland State hit a three to close out the first quarter and led 16-14. Midway through the second, Omaha cut the deficit to five after Josie Filer hit a pair from the charity stripe. At the half, Omaha still trailed by five (36-31). 

INSIDE THE SECOND HALF 
Omaha cut the deficit to just two points (38-36) at the 7:27 on a pair of Filer buckets. The Vikings, however, went on a run and led 51-39 with 4:30 left in the third. A huge 8-0 run by Omaha cut the deficit to 53-49 near the end of the third. After three, Omaha trailed 58-51. With 8:44 left in the third, Omaha fell behind 62-51. The Vikings increased their lead at 74-58 with 4:02 remaining. At the end of the game, Omaha eventually fell 79-66.
