Omaha Shuts Out Southern Utah, 1-0

OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha women's soccer team defeated Southern Utah 1-0 on Saturday evening at Caniglia Field.

With the win, the Mavericks improved to 2-4-1 on the season, while the Thunderbirds are now 1-6.

Omaha scored its lone goal during the 37th minute.  Hannah Heinemann gathered a deflected shot and launched it into the upper right corner for her first goal of the season.

The Mavericks controlled possession of the ball during the first half and held a 13-2 shot advantage with four shots on goal.  Southern Utah's Brianna Aldridge made three saves in the opening half.

Omaha continued its pressure in the second half with multiple early attacks.  The Mavericks held a 6-1 advantage in corner kicks and led 6-3 lead in shots.

•    Omaha outshot Southern Utah 19-5 and held an 8-2 advantage in shots on goal.
•    UNO took nine corner kicks, while Southern Utah took one.
•    Hannah Heinemann's goal was the first of her career.
•    Emily Romero set a career-best with seven shots in the match.  Heinemann added three shots on goal.
•    Erin Bunker played the full 90 minutes and picked up her second-straight shutout.
