Mavericks Fall 3-1 at Ball State

MUNCIE, Ind. – The Omaha women's soccer team dropped a 3-1 decision to Ball State at the Briner Sports Complex on Friday.

With the loss, the Mavericks are now 2-5-1 on the season, while the Cardinals improved to 4-1-1.

After a scoreless first half, Omaha scored the first goal of the game in the 58th minute.  Bailey Cascio played a pinpoint pass to Emily Romero on the left side of the box.  Romero's shot then beat the Ball State keeper far post to give the Mavericks a 1-0 lead.

Ball State answered in the 69th minute as Julia Elvbo headed in a corner from Alessandra Fistrovich as the Cardinals level the score, 1-1.

Ball State took the lead in the 76th minute as Tatiana Mason scored off a pass from Paula Guerrero.  Just under two minutes later Guerrero converted from the right side of the box to make the final score 3-1.

•    Ball State outshot Omaha 9-7 for the match and held an 8-3 advantage in shots on goal.
•    The Mavericks led 6-3 in corner kicks.
•    Emily Romero scored her first goal of the season and fifth of her career.
•    Bailey Cascio picked up her first assist of the season.
•    Erin Bunker played the full 90 minutes, allowing three goals and making five saves.

Omaha returns to action on Sunday, Sept. 16, at Illinois State.  The game is set for Noon at Adelaide Street Field in Normal, Ill.
