MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Omaha women's soccer team opened the 2018 season with a 4-0 loss to Memphis on Thursday evening at the Mike Rose Soccer Complex.
The Mavericks are now 0-1-0 on the season, while the Tigers improve to 1-0-0.
Memphis scored the first goal of the game in the 6th minute when Elizabeth Woerner gathered a loose ball in the box and finished to her right to put Memphis up 1-0. Kimberley Smit was credited with the assist.
The Tigers made it a 2-0 game when Clarissa Larisey scored in the 18th minute. Larisey controlled a ball punched out by the Omaha keeper
Erin Bunker and then lobbed a shot over Bunker and into the goal.
In the second half, Samantha Murphy put Memphis up 3-0 with a goal in the 79th minute. Murphy received a cross from Grace Duncan and connected with the back of the net.
Smit scored on a header in the 90th minute off a Jessica Lisi corner kick giving Memphis the 4-0 final.
