FARGO, N.D. -- The Omaha baseball team dropped a 10-0 contest in eight innings at North Dakota State on Sunday, falling 2-1 in the three-game series.
The Mavericks are now 14-25 (9-9 Summit League), while the Bison improve to 17-19 (9-10).
NDSU's Kevin Folman (3-2) earned the win in relief, tossing 4.0 shutout innings with three hits, four walks and a strikeout.
Andrew Brighton (2-2) took the loss, going 5.2 innings in his start.
Adam Caniglia paced the Mavericks, going 1-for-4 with a double, while
Cole Thibodeau and
Thomas DeBonville went 1-for-3.
Adam Rellihan (1-for-1) and
Braden Rogers (1-for-4) also registered a hit in the game.
The Mavericks fell into a 1-0 hole after the Bison homered in the bottom of the second. In the top of the third, Omaha found itself down one but drew back-to-back walks to put DeBonville and Thibodeau on, but both were left stranded.
Omaha loaded the bases in the top of the fourth as
Ben Palensky and
Tyler Daugherty walked and Caniglia doubled to left center with two outs. North Dakota State, however, was able to get a fly out and keep its 1-0 lead.
An NDSU homer in the bottom of the fifth made it 2-0, and the Bison plated five more runs in the sixth to make it 7-0. Consecutive homers made it 9-0 in the bottom of the seventh, and a sacrifice fly resulted in NDSU's 10th run to cap it.
Omaha looks to bounce back next weekend in Brookings, S.D., as it takes on South Dakota State in a three-game league series May 4-6. First pitch on Friday is scheduled for 3 p.m, and links to live stats, audio and video will be available on OMavs.com.
